About Me

Katya Alexander

I’m Katya Alexander, an award-winning filmmaker and producer, and currently the Head of Production at Fable’s Showrunner, where I’m helping lead the future of AI-driven storytelling.

My work has taken me across genres and continents—from filming in Zambia, where I hauled water from a well and taped a lens back together, to living on a boat for ten days, battling seasickness while rationing supplies. I’ve filmed across India, Japan, and the U.S. for 8 Billion Angels (Abramorama and PBS), and toured the country with the band Vundabar, waking up in a new city every day.

But for me, filmmaking isn’t just about the adventure—it’s about the heart and humor. Comedy is my first love, and I’ve always looked up to producers like Shauna Robertson (Elf, Superbad, Anchorman), who helped define a generation’s sense of humor. After a formative run with National Lampoon, I produced Pretty Problems, which premiered at SXSW, won the Audience Award, was acquired by IFC for theatrical release, and became a top-trending film on Hulu for 14 weeks.

Alongside narrative work, I’ve had the privilege to innovate with bleeding-edge technology—working at the Las Vegas Sphere on new cinematic formats that landed the venue on the cover of TIME in 2023, and collaborating with NASA on space-based camera deployments and shoots in remote locations like Antarctica.

At the core of all of it, I believe producing means finding the soul of a story, protecting it, and building a set environment where cast and crew can do their best work. My goal is to improve the industry from the inside out—making it more human, more fun, and more inclusive.

I also host two podcasts: Reel Intelligence, where I interview top minds in AI and explore how it’s reshaping entertainment, and Pocket Change Films, which helps new filmmakers create powerful work on minimal budgets. My mission is to inspire the next generation of storytellers—and make sure they know there’s a place for them in this industry.
